At work yesterday we got into the discussion about the different terminology used for "sexual" preference. I have to say I am a little lost. There was a 30 year old and a 17 year old trying to explain it to me. I was under the impression that "transgender" referred to someone that had gone through the whole operation of being transformed from one sex to the other (or the beginning steps of taking hormones pre surgery). Apparently I was wrong. They explained that a transgender person "identified" with being the other sex. They just FEEL like a woman or FEEL like a man, but it is different than being gay. So you can be gay, but not transgender and vice versa. Transgender people will dress like the opposite sex and "feel" like the opposite sex. So then what is a transvestite? It is all getting too confusing to me. It seems like gay women have been doing this for a long time. Am I wrong? They were usually referred to as Dykes or Butch. No one made a big deal about it, which brings me to my next question. Why is it that Males always make a bigger deal out of everything pertaining to this subject?

I think more people are turning against the woke. My opinion is like Ben Shapiro - you can pretend all you want that you're something aren't, but don't think I have to pretend with you. It's just like when my 3 year old grandson claimed to be a tiger. Yes, we knew he wasn't.

Exactly Luv. That is what I was trying to tell them, but they just looked at me like I was some kind of monster. When I am in the water I feel like a fish, but that doesn't make me one. LOL

Nip.....I feel like you do, but never got into it much because I really don't care what they want to be or not want to be. I think it is mental in my opinion. I said before we had a Gay 6th grade teacher and he was nice as could be, all the kids loved him but you wonder WHY?

I had a gay 6th grade teacher too. I didn't realize it at the time, but when I look back on it I am pretty sure he was gay. Never found out for sure. Everyone liked him because he was funny. I guess I am just feeling old. I am old! LOL I just don't understand the celebration about it. I have never seen people out having an "I'm straight and proud of it" parade. Should heterosexual people start making a major scene about being straight?

I understand it. But I dont abide by it. Neither do most of the folks here. I went to Nashville to pick up tile for a backsplash when I first moved here and while I was there I picked up few things and got strange looks from two of the clerks. I thought it was because of my skin color. I'm a bit darker than most in the state. I usually get " SOMEONE has been on a beach somewhere... " I just smile . Any way the older clerks left the youngest clerk wait on me and I was shocked when he nervously after my purchases were run up said " that will be 300 and 72 dollars ma'am " then he swallowed and added quickly " sir". I told him mrs. And he seemed relieved but I've learned Nashville is very woke. I avoid it at all cost.

Micha - why did they look at you funny if you were tan? It's the south. Everyone is tan in the summer, spring, and fall. I also don't understand why the man called you sir? I'm confused.

I think a lot of people are scared to use any pronouns these days! Except for older people-we're not playing!
